JKL Bahweting Anishnabe School | 2020
Project Management, Script Development, 2D Character Animation, Motion Graphics
CGS in partnership with Tipping Point, produced this award-winning series of short animated films, created to communicate school-related COVID-19 guidelines to Parents, Students, and Faculty connected to the JKL Bahweting Anishnabe School. JKL is a Tribal school, sponsored by the Sault Ste. Marie band of Chippewa Indians.
Each video includes a culturally relevant expert guide, Migizi, who walks viewers through new school guidelines. Migizi was voiced by a prominent tribal elder in the community, who can be heard using terms from the Tribe’s native language, Ojibway. Using performance capture animation, motion graphics, and the sourcing of culturally relevant material helped JKL through the uncertain times brought about by the COVID-19 crisis. The animation plays out over actual Matterport scans of the school to help students and families clearly identify with how changes affected their surroundings.
